Magdalaine’s Priorities
-
Last year we saw a massive push from President Trump to redistrict. He even primaries certain State Senators due to their vote on redistricting. This is a hard no from me. This push was not to benefit Hoosiers. This push was to help the president make it to the point where Indiana had 9 red seats. I am also strongly against gerrymandering. Every 10 years when the census comes out I believe that we need to have independent commissions draw up our maps. Each district should be purple, not red, not blue. This is how we can ensure that Hoosiers are being represented and candidates have to work to be elected.

Women’s health is more than reproductive healthcare. It includes prenatal and postpartum care, contraception, miscarriage care, cancer screenings, mental health services, and treatment for conditions that affect women (PMOS/PCOS, endometriosis, etc.). I believe decisions about pregnancy and abortion should be made by a woman in consultation with her healthcare provider, not politicians. We should also address the circumstances that make pregnancy and parenthood more difficult. These issues could be the cost of healthcare, childcare, and basic needs. Indiana should also strengthen maternal healthcare and make prenatal, postpartum, and reproductive healthcare more accessible and affordable, especially in our rural communities where healthcare providers can be difficult to find.

We must work to prevent sexual violence before it happens through stronger education, early intervention, and community-based prevention programs. I will work to expand age-appropriate consent and healthy relationship education, strengthen prevention efforts in schools and communities, and ensure Indiana invests in evidence-based strategies that address sexual violence at its roots.

Hoosiers should be able to work hard, support their families, and afford to live in the communities they call home. The cost of living has gone up while wages have not. I will look for practical ways to make everyday life more affordable, from housing and childcare to transportation, utilities, and putting food on the table. That includes taking a look at Indiana’s minimum wage and asking whether it reflects the realities facing working Hoosiers.
-
Transparency means keeping constituents informed about the decisions being made on their behalf and being honest about both successes and challenges. I am committed to open communication, accessible leadership, and ensuring the people of District 26 always know where I stand on the issues that matter most.
-
Local communities know their needs best. I believe decisions should be made as close to the people as possible, giving local governments the flexibility to address challenges and create solutions that reflect the priorities of their residents.
-
A strong education system is essential to Indiana's future. I support investing in quality public schools, supporting teachers, and expanding opportunities for students to gain the skills they need to succeed in college, the workforce, or skilled trades. Every student deserves access to an education that prepares them for a successful future.

Mental Health
Mental health challenges affect every community in Indiana. I believe we must improve access to care, support early intervention, and strengthen local resources so individuals and families can get help before a crisis occurs. By investing in mental health, we can build stronger communities and improve quality of life across our state.
